A bed and breakfast designed to make your holiday extraordinary!
If you like gingerbread – the architectural kind that is, not the edible type – then you might want to take a detour the next time you’re rocketing down the highway between Toronto and Niagara Falls.
The detour you’re looking for is at Grimsby Ontario, a city of about 25,000 people about halfway between Hamilton and the Falls. You should take exit 68 (Bartlett Avenue North) and head toward the lake. Turn left onto Lake and then right onto Betts. Here you'll find a series of narrow lanes like Temple Lane and Auditorium circle with a collection of the cutest little Victorian gingerbread cottages north of Cape Cod.
The cottages at Grimsby Beach come in a rainbow of colours, including pink, green, yellow, blue and purple – sometimes all of them on the same house. The buildings date back to the late 1800s when they were first used as summer cottages.
At Grimsby Beach Bed and Breakfast we offer three unique accommodations:
The Chautauqua Room
This is an original private room located on the second floor of the 130 year old cottage. The north windows, with a partial view of Lake Ontario, look onto the quaint Bell Park. The queen size bed was designed in Morris style (Mission style), complementing the authenticity of the period. The Sealy Posturepedic mattress assures a comfortable nights sleep. A brand new three piece ensuite washroom was added to this room in late autumn 2016 along with a flat screen TV offering Netflix.
The Lawren Harris Suite
The Lawren Harris Suite is an enchanting edition to Grimsby Beach and Breakfast. This private suite offers you a romantic antique wrought iron queen bed that invites you to relax, while the vintage triple windows let the sunshine into the room. There is an intimate nook that can be utilized as an extra bed or a relaxing spot to read. The suite is furnished with a wall mounted flat screen TV offering Netflix along with a chautauqua period chest of drawers and writing desk. The newly renovated ensuite washroom contains a deep jacuzzi tub and shower with a make up vanity and an umbrella bell silk victorian lamp shade.
The Private Cottage
The private self catered cottage was entirely renovated in the late summer 2016. It offers a private deck front entrance with large patio dining table and umbrella. The double french door entrance leads into the open concept full kitchen with a small kitchen island. The living room has a fold down couch that converts to a twin. along with a flat screen television that now offers Netflix. The private bedroom offers a double bed with new sealy posturepedic mattress for a comfortable nights rest. The ensuite three piece washroom offers a large glass and tile shower,
